Educated at Stanford (M.A. and B.A. in History, B.S. in Biological Sciences) and Cambridge (Ph.D. in History and MPhil in Classics), she was a recipient of the British Academy Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. She has taught and conducted research projects in the academic systems of three European countries countries, as well as in the American university system.
